Allison Semmes is currently playing Diana Ross in Motown the Musical First National Tour. Her Broadway credits include The Book of Mormon and Motown the Musical. Theater credits include Bubbling Brown Sugar, Dreamgirls, The Color Purple National Tour directed by Gary Griffin, and The Wiz. Allison's passion also lies in jazz and soul, performing her first cabaret Jazz, Soul, & L'Amour at Zinc in NYC's Greenwich Village, and composer Ted Hearne's song cycle Hurricane Katrina Ballads and You're Causing Quite A Disturbance with Erykah Badu and the Brooklyn Philharmonic at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. She began her musical journey in the Chicago Children's Choir. Through the CCC, she sang with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and abroad. This led her to her Opera studies at University of Illinois in Vocal Performance. She received her Masters in Music in Musical Theater at New York University-Steinhardt.
